Flora & Fauna Program

Flora and Fauna involves Level 3 students. Each week children participate in one of the three different activities, gardening, environmental studies or cooking.

We would like to acknowledge the generous sponsorship from Hoyts Foods Australia to Rangeview Primary Schools Flora & Fauna Level 3 cooking program.

The students have greatly benefited from this amazing donation comprising of a selection of their food products, salt & pepper mills, mortar & pessals, and  a large variety of herbs and spices to be used by the children while cooking in the Gallery as part of this program.

They have also very kindly had a class set of aprons made for the children to use while cooking.

The kids love wearing these and feel and look like young ‘master chefs’.

Hoyts Food sponsorship has allowed the students to widen their cooking experience through broadening their knowledge, and also their sensory exposure, on the many ways herbs and spices can be used to

enhance food.

If you would like further information on the fantastic variety of Hoyts Herbs & Spices, please check out their website: www.hoytsfood.com.au. Donna Marshall

Cooking involves working in small groups with the assistance of parent helpers. Students practice grating, mixing, peeling, kneading, chopping and slicing. Importantly, students must also work together to wash and dry dishes and clean their bench space.

Some of the recipes have included: pasta, pumpkin and pear muffins, herb salad with honey mustard dressing and cheesy pumpkin and herb snails.
