DigiTech (Digital Technologies)

DigiTech (Digital Technologies) is one of our fantastic specialist programs offered at Rangeview Primary School. As a S.T.E.M.-based subject, we strive to provide our students with hands on, practical learning experiences that nurture the key skills and knowledge needed to prepare them for success in our rapidly changing digital world.

It is estimated that in the next 15 years up to 75% of all Australian employees will require STEM skills with some routine manual jobs lost to automation, current jobs transformed, and new jobs created. We know that a strong understanding of Digital Technologies is going to be essential for our current and future students.

Through Digital Technologies education, students develop key skills including:

· problem solving

· creativity and design thinking

· critical analysis

· teamwork

· independent thinking

· initiative

· communication

· digital literacy

In our lessons, students from Foundation to Level 6 have the opportunity to engage with a variety of technologies and programs, including iPads, laptop computers and Chromebooks, to build essential digital literacy skills. They access a wide range of robotics and applications across their schooling to develop fundamental coding proficiencies, using directional, text, and block-based coding languages. Students also work with the Lego Spike Prime & BricQ Motion Education programs to apply their knowledge, and further build problem solving and design thinking skills.

Additionally, students at Rangeview PS take part in dedicated learning on Digital Safety & Wellbeing through the Cyber Safety Project curriculum, which is delivered in classrooms and DigiTech lessons. We seek to equip students to be safe and responsible Digital Citizens.
